Week 1 Story

In the kingdom of Zagnia lived around 30,000 citizens. The King and Queen of Zagnia had many loyal soldiers under their kingdom however the King always wanted to breed his own son to hand down his kingdom one day. Unfortunately the Qeen of Zagnia got pregnant 4 times while she was with the King and all 4 were females. So out of frustration the King of Zagnia asked one of his most loyal soldiers Jongar to go out to the town and seek for a child that best fits the role of prince of Zagnia. The next day, Jongar went down to the town center with a goal to find the prince but knew that all the people of the town would want to capitalize on this opportunity so he had to come up with a unique approach. He announced that a competition will be held in three days that will test the physical and mental potential of all the male children in the town. He decided to keep the reason untold and said that the reward will be from the king and big. All the families that had children that fit the age wanted, got excited and chaos took over the town with kids practicing different methods of training. Chaos erupted from all the competition between families which led to many tragedies in the town, and everything went out of control and people were fighting in the town center until the kings bell rang. It turned out that a child who was known to have lost his parents in a previous war had rung the bell and shouted for the people to gather peace upon the town. The king came down from his castle for this urgent matter and was proud of the child so he adopted him and yelled to the people of the town "Champions are not made they are born!" The people cheered while chanting the princes name "BATAL BATAL BATAL BATAL". Years later the Prince Batal would take over the kingdom of Zagnia and reigned for over 50 years!

Authors note: The author explained how a man used the kings power to show how the weaker members of the society listen blindly to it. He first asked for well bred and everyone responded. Later he asked for the ill bred and everyone also responded. They all were accepted to classifying and believing themselves as anything that the king wanted just to receive the gift.

  1. Afif, I really enjoyed reading your story about the King of Zagnia and the Prince Batal. I thought the characters names were very unique and that you did a good job choosing them. Your message of people following blindly is very interesting. I find that majority of people will follow a certain leader no matter what they say. I feel this a common thing that people face and that you did a good job explaining that in your story. Also, I really liked the image that you chose. It really depicted the time period and it allowed me to visualize the Kingdom of Zagnia. Overall, great story!

  2. Hello again, Afif! Your story about the King of Zagnia and how he wanted and got an heir was great! I was interested the whole time and was curious how the story would end. It really had a nice plot despite its seemingly short length! Were the names something you came up with, or were they given in the Indian Fables?
